Softball uses big innings to sweep Blue Tigers

JEFFERSON CITY,  Mo. – Addy Wolfe hit three homers and had seven RBI Saturday as the RiverHawks hammered Lincoln 13-2 and 13-1.  Northeastern State found the win column in MIAA for the first time as they moved to 2-8 in league play.

The RiverHawks (20-15) had monster innings in both games and broke a 1-1 tie with seven runs in the fifth inning.  Wolfe hit a three-run bomb to bust the contest open; Savannah Evans later cleared the bases with a three RBI double, and Raegan Edwards extended the game to 8-1 with an RBI single to right field.

NSU's scoring onslaught continued in the sixth, with Wolfe hitting her fifth RBI of the game.  Allison Zanca had an RBI single to right center, and Raegan Moore hit her first career homer to plate three more runs.

Evans (7-8) when five innings and Lizzy Hall pitched a scoreless sixth.

In the nightcap, NSU blew the game up for the Blue Tigers in the fifth, sending 12 batters to the plate to score ten runs.  Baylea Smith opened the inning with a double and had a three-run homer during the outburst.  Wolfe smashed her ninth homer of the season as part of the eight-hit frame.

Emily Sampson and Wolfe had three hits as NSU had 15 overall on the Blue Tigers (4-24, 1-11 MIAA).

Madison Heinle (7-5) struck out six batters and allowed just one earned run.
