Men's Soccer plays to scoreless draw in season opener

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State's defense did not allow a shot on goal Friday in a scoreless outing against Drury at DeLoache Field.  In his NSU debut, Ivan Lopez paced the RiverHawks' attack with six shots, with three of them being on-target.

"Our defense was pretty solid. It should be something we should be proud of," said senior captain Davi Dornelles. "We had chances to score but it's the beginning of the season still and we have a lot to work on."

Four cautions were issued to each team with the RiverHawks having a 12-to-7 advantage on shots.

Oct. 6, 2022, against Ouachita Baptist at home, is the most recent time that NSU didn't allow its foe to have a shot. Goalkeeper Ian Milla earned a shutout in his career debut for the RiverHawks.

Northeastern State remains at home to play Missouri S&T at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
