TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State returns home this Friday to host Missouri Southern and will face Pittsburg State for the first time in women's soccer on Sunday.
The RiverHawks (6-2, 0-2 MIAA) suffered its first two losses to open MIAA play with both No. 9 Central Missouri and Northwest Missouri recording second-half goals to overtake NSU.
In the national rankings, Northeastern State is 19th overall with 18.63 shots per game, and Sydney Taylor is 11th in NCAA Division II with 2.5 shots on goal per game. Whitney Gentry is third among players from the MIAA, with four goals this year.

History with the Lions
The RiverHawks lead the series 20-3-1 and have won the previous five meetings. The pair met just over a week ago in a non-conference match with Northeastern State winning 3-1. In 12 contests in Tahlequah, the RiverHawks are 11-0-1.

- Pittsburg State (4-3-1, 0-1-1 MIAA) had a similar weekend as Missouri Southern to open MIAA play with the Gorillas earning a 2-2 draw with Nebraska-Kearney and falling 2-0 to Fort Hays State.
- The Gorillas are 14th nationally with 15 assists, nine of which came in the opening two matches of the season.
- Led by Wes Branstetter who was previously at Oral Roberts as an assistant coach and a native of Sapulpa.
