TAHLEQUAH -- 28 runs made it to home plate over a doubleheader for Northeastern State at Rousey Field, as the RiverHawks took the winning streak to eight with triumphs in commanding manners over Hannibal-LaGrange (11-3) and Randall (17-0).
The RiverHawks (8-4) encountered a Hannibal-LaGrange team that did not allow a major inning from the hosting bats for two-thirds of the afternoon, before a nine-run seventh from the hosts broke a 2-2 tie and made a differential that was too much for the visiting team to bounce back from.
In the win,
Drake Sisemore had a good performance with seven strikeouts in six innings, while
Hayden Key and
Preston Pattison combined to finish the rest of the matchup with the Trojans and only surrendered a run over the last three tossed.
Korben Ford accounted for two of the team's four base hits, with many of the NSU runs resulting from walks, as the RiverHawks took ten free trips to first base.
Drew Miller provided a powerful display in the late meeting with Randall, hitting two home runs, including a grand slam to provide a six-RBI game.
Gage Fuller struck out nine across five, with
Jacob Bowman and
Grant Parr preserving the shutout in the sixth and seventh frames.
Northeastern State goes to Joplin for a date with Missouri Southern on Tuesday in non-conference play at 3 p.m.
