ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- A six-run first and fifth allowed Henderson State to run-rule Northeastern State in a 17-2 win Sunday afternoon at Clyde Berry Field.
HSU (2-1) went after
Ian Mason early, forcing him out of the game after just one-third inning after giving up six earned runs and seven base hits. Meanwhile, the RiverHawks (0-4) scored their runs in the first off of a pair of balks, allowing
Tyson Fourkiller and
Matt Kaiser to score. They were held off the board the rest of the way and were held to three base hits in the setback.
Korben Ford,
Gage Fuller,
Jacob Bowman and
Cole White all saw action in relief roles the rest of the game, with Ford, Bowman and White each finishing with two strikeouts.
