TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State saw seven runs against them in the seventh inning to charge Central Oklahoma to a 9-2 win Tuesday night.
After the RiverHawks (15-16, 6-11 MIAA) scored a run in both the first and the second, the offense was held off the scoreboard the rest of the matchup against UCO (24-7, 11-6 MIAA), limited to six base hits.
Brooks Miller finished the game with two hits, a team-high, while reaching first an additional time through a base on balls.
Chance Condit saw his fifth start of the season last two shutout innings with three strikeouts.
Christian Johnson added a scoreless third in relief before surrendering UCO's first run in the fourth.
Drake Sisemore worked into the fifth and sixth, as well as the start of the seventh as the first of five arms to see time in that frame. Seven scored across the inning for the Bronchos, making a strong impact on the final result, while claiming another run in the ninth to take the lead to seven.
The pitching staff totalled 12 strikeouts, despite the loss, which was pinned against
Hayden Key. The hosting offense fell victim to the strikeout 11 times themselves, with a team-high four from Racer Felter.
NSU opens a three-game series with Pittsburg State at Rousey Field on Thursday at 5 p.m.
