DURANT, Okla. –
Madison Heinle carried the RiverHawks on her back in a 1-0 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma on Tuesday. The contest was the lone one of the day for Northeastern State on the road with a thunderstorm south of Durant causing a cancelation of the nightcap.
Northeastern State (5-12) earned its first win over Southeastern (9-10) since 2010 and snapped a 15-game skid to the Savage Storm that dated back to when the pair were members of the Lone Star Conference.
Heinle allowed just a pair of hits and struck out three batters to move to 5-5 on the year. The junior scored the game's lone run in the fifth inning with Southeastern leaving five runners on base against NSU.
The RiverHawks were limited to four hits and left two runners on base.
Northeastern State heads to Claremore on Saturday for an MIAA doubleheader against Rogers State.
