Softball shutout in MIAA Opener

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Northeastern State suffered a pair of 2-0 setbacks in their MIAA opener Saturday at No. 3 Rogers State.

The RiverHawks (5-14, 0-2 MIAA) were limited to three hits overall with RSU's pitching staff striking out NSU hitters nine times in each game.

Both of RSU's runs in game one came in the second inning.  The Hillcats had a leadoff homer and plated the second run on a single to center field.

Base runners were few and far between for NSU with the RiverHawks having just two hits.

Madison Heinle (5-6) struck out three batters and walked a pair of Hillcats.

In the nightcap, pitching dominated the day with just one hit being recorded by each team.  Rogers State (18-4, 2-0 MIAA) scored both of their runs in the third without making a base hit.

Addy Wolfe broke up a no-hit bid with two outs in the sixth.  RSU's lone hit came in the fifth with one out.

Korynn Tindel (0-4) struck out four batters and forced 12 ground ball outs.

The RiverHawks return to action on March 15, traveling to Emporia State for continued MIAA action.
