MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Northeastern State exploded offensively to 23 base hits, including seven home runs in an 18-6 win over Northwest Missouri to open their final road series of the regular season in dominating fashion.
The Friday fireworks started early, with four runs scoring in the opening inning, with two from an RBI triple, courtesy of
Isaiah Keller. An RBI double the following inning from
Tyson Fourkiller gave the visitors a 5-0 advantage.
Northwest Missouri scored in five different innings, but failed to log more than one run in any frame, with the exception of a two-score seventh. By that time, the RiverHawks were already flirting with a double-digit lead (12-4), something they accomplished to end the night with a matchup-best six runs scoring in the ninth.
Keller and
Drew Miller homered twice in the win, with Keller driving in a third of the team's scores with six RBI on the contest.
Gage Williams went deep, too, in a four-RBI night, while
Ty Van Meter and
Matt Kaiser logged home runs, as well.
Tyson Fourkiller had three hits, while
C.D. White (four hits) and
Korben Ford (three) doubled twice in the triumph, which saw nine NSU players finish with base hits and five with at least three.
Drake Sisemore struck out three across six innings and received the win, while Ford and
Jessie Moreno III forced NWMSU batters out the same way in relief.Â
The RiverHawks play the second game of the series Saturday at 2 p.m.
