TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State finished Tuesday's contest against Oklahoma Baptist with four home runs, but fell victim to the long ball four times on the other side and surrendered 16 base hits in a 17-5 loss to the Bison at Rousey Field.
The Bison (28-18) pounced at the start, with 16 runs across the first three innings. This included a game-high eight in the third inning. OBU's Troy Shields provided three home runs in that span, accounting for nine RBI. The RiverHawks (20-27) found some offense in the second inning from
Isaiah Keller, who sent his 11th baseball over the wall with a solo shot, but OBU carried a 15-run advantage out of the first three frames.Â
Tyson Fourkiller,
Drew Miller and
C.D. White would go on to homer in the loss, as well, with their four deep drives over the wall accounting for a majority of the team's seven hits.Â
Chance Condit was credited with the loss in a starting spot, while
Cole White (two strikeouts) and
Kyle Duffey (three strikeouts) followed him in relief, with
Trey Havens and
Hayden Key eating up the last two innings before the game's conclusion following the seventh inning of play.
The RiverHawks host Washburn later in the week, starting with a 6:30 meeting at Rousey Field on Friday.
