AUSTIN, Texas --
Luis Felipe Karam scored in the second half as Northeastern State was handed a 3-1 loss at St. Edward's Thursday evening.
The RiverHawks (0-3-2) fell behind early to the Hilltoppers (1-2-1) after the hosts struck the back of the net in the 26th minute off a converted penalty kick. Karam's equalizer happened almost 40 minutes later in the match in the 63rd on an unassisted attempt. However, the score was only one of two on-target tries for the visiting side, while SEU responded with a pair of quick conversions in the 71st and 78th minutes to regain control.
Overall, the RiverHawks were outshot 19-7, the largest difference of the season. The duo of Karam and
Assanie Brown accounted for a majority of the team's shots, as they each recorded two. Yuki Yubunaka was the only NSU player to log a shot on-goal beyond Karam's score.Â
The road trip concludes with the team's non-conference finale at Dallas Baptist on Saturday, Sep. 21 at 7 p.m.
