Carl Murch scored his first goal of the season, yet Northeastern State fell in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Drury Monday night.
The Panthers (1-0-1) scored in the opening half with a 14th-minute strike and held the advantage through the stanza. The RiverHawks (0-2) countered with their first goal of the season, courtesy of a conversion in the 68th minute from Murch, his first in his NSU career. The visitors went on to respond with the go-ahead score not long after to go up 2-1 in the 78th minute, a score that held through the conclusion.
NSU outshot DU 9-7 and had four shots on-goal to the opposition's three. Three players recorded multiple tries for the RiverHawks in
Ivan Lopez (three),
Carl Murch (two) and
Luis Felipe Karam (two). Lopez and Murch were on-target once each, in addition to
Miguel Carrasquinho and
Carter Adams, with Adams logging a shot on-goal for the second straight match to begin his collegiate playing career.
The homestand continues with a Thursday night clash against Lubbock Christian at 7 p.m. at DeLoache Field in Tahlequah.
