NORTHEASTERN STATE MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH LARRY GIPSON
On beginning conference play with a victory…
“This was an excellent night for the RiverHawks, both men and women. These were two very good opponents. Emporia State is traditionally one of the very good basketball teams, both men and women. For us to get two wins tonight in our inaugural MIAA games is excellent.”

On Emporia State's second-half comeback…
“One of those situations was my fault. I thought we kept some guys in the game too long. I kept thinking that we might pull away a little bit and we could rest some guys. Ethan (Anderson) got in foul trouble, so that limited who we could put in the game. That was a problem. I didn't think we handled the pressure very well down the stretch. We had too many critical turnovers. But it's a win, and as of today, we're in first place in the MIAA.”
