TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State football team dropped a 35-14 decision to Eastern New Mexico Saturday afternoon at Doc Wadley Stadium.

The RiverHawks (0-7) racked up 250 yards of total offense and registered their longest touchdown play of the year, but the Greyhounds (3-3) answered with 485 yards total with 368 coming on the ground.

The visitors got on the board first when Christian Long scored on a two-yard carry to cap a five-play, 59-yard opening drive. Northeastern State answered when Terrance Dixon's 16-yard scamper with 4:19 to play in the opening drive tied the game after NSU recovered a fumble. Dixon now has six touchdowns in his last six outings.

Eastern New Mexico took control of the game right before halftime, however. Long scored his second touchdown of the day following a nine-play, 67-yard drive that ended with 3:06 on the clock.

NSU drove down the ENMU 13-yard line and had a chance to score before intermission, but sophomore quarterback Thor Long threw an interception and the Greyhounds were in the endzone three plays and 64 yards later.

The 16-yard pass from Jeremy Buurma to Jacob Johnson with 38 ticks left on the clock made the score 21-7 at the half.

Eastern New Mexico added 14 second-half points before the RiverHawks would respond. The highlight of the game for NSU came with 4:46 left in the contest, when Long hit junior wide receiver for a 76-yard TD. The pass was the longest by Northeastern State since midway through the 2011 season and was the second touchdown by an NSU receiver this year.

Senior linebacker Langston Jones finished with 18 tackles, and sophomore safety Kyler Harris added 15.

The RiverHawks will now set their sights on Warrensburg, Mo., where they will face Central Missouri at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 26 on UCM's Homecoming.
