CALHOUN, La. – The Northeastern State men's golf team sits in sixth place following Monday's opening rounds of the 2013 ULM/Wallace Jones Invitational. The tournament is being contested on the par-72 Calvert Crossing Course at Southern Pines Golf Club.
 
The field includes 12 NCAA Division I schools, one NCAA Division II school (Northeastern State) and one NAIA school (Oklahoma City University).
 
UMKC (295-311) and Sam Houston State (299-307) are tied for first at 30-over-par 606. Houston Baptist (305-308) is third at 613, Oklahoma City (303-311) is fourth at 614 and Texas-Pan American (303-313) is fifth at 616.
 
The RiverHawks sit in sixth after carding a 42-over 618 (313-305).
 
Junior Zach Tucker leads NSU after firing a two-round total of 10-over 154 (82-72). He is tied for 23rd. Senior Kyle Fouts (84-71) is one stroke behind Tucker at 155 and is tied for 29th. Fellow senior Jacob Bartel (75-82) is tied for 37th at 157, and junior Jonas Granel (78-80) is T42 at 158.
 
Freshman Jackson Hess (78-94) sits in a tie for 76th after shooting 172 in the first two rounds.
 
Oklahoma State University features the No. 14-ranked Division I program in the nation, and the Cowboys sent four individuals to the tournament. All four are in the top 20 of the individual standings after the first two rounds, with Brad Gehl tied for the lead at 1-over 145 (72-73). Sam Houston State's Albert Miner (70-75) is also tied for first.
 
Tuesday's final round is set to tee off at 8 a.m.
