TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Two Northeastern State student-athletes were named to the 2012-13 Capital One Academic All-District 7 Women's At-Large First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.

Senior Whitney McAteer (women's golf) and junior Houda Bellamine (women's tennis) were both named to the Academic All-District squad after showcasing their talents both in their respective sports and also in the classroom.

McAteer sports a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in speech and language pathology and is one of the most accomplished women's golfers in NSU's history.

Bellamine helped lead the RiverHawks to the NCAA Round of 16 in April, and she owns a 3.87 GPA in finance.

The Capital One Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The teams are all voted on by CoSIDA members in each respective district.

The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts, with Northeastern State falling into District 7.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
