TicketsTAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State men's basketball team is set to welcome Lindenwood at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 6 inside the NSU Event Center. The RiverHawks (1-6, 0-1 MIAA) will look to snap a six-game losing streak, while the Lions (4-3, 0-1 MIAA) recently had a four-game win streak halted.
NSU is 1-2 against LWU in the last three years, but the RiverHawks defeated the Lions 83-74 in St. Charles last season. Northeastern State was picked to finish 12th in the MIAA preseason coaches' poll, while Lindenwood was projected to finish ninth.

SCOUTING THE LIONSLindenwood University is located in St. Charles, Missouri, and the team competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The Lions are 4-3 this season and are 0-1 in the MIAA after falling at Central Oklahoma 93-70 this past Thursday. The lost to the Bronchos snapped a four-game win streak. Cory Arentsen (12.9 ppg) and Darris Smith (10.9 ppg) lead the team in scoring. Garrett Reeg averages 8.4 points per game and leads the team in rebounding with 6.0 rebounds per game. The Lions average 74.3 points per game and shoot .462 as a team.

THE LAST TIME OUT - LU 75, NSU 69NSU lost their first MIAA game of the season 75-69 to Lincoln Thursday night inside the NSU Event Center. The RiverHawks (1-6, 0-1 MIAA) have now dropped five in a row and lost their conference opener for the first time since joining the MIAA. The Blue Tigers (4-6, 1-0 MIAA) have already surpassed their win total from each of the last two seasons.
Demone Harrison paced NSU with 17 points, while
Michael Harmon added 15.
Keon Littleton tied his career-high with 11 rebounds. Northeastern State shot 43.1 percent (25-for-58) from the field, 30.4 percent (7-for-23) from behind the 3-point line and 75 percent (12-for-15) at the free-throw line. Lincoln shot 51.9 percent (27-for-52) from the field, 47.4 percent (9-for-19) from deep and 60 percent (12-for-20) at the line. NSU allowed the Blue Tigers to have two 20-point scorers. Joshua Buie was 9 of 11 from the field and led all scorers with 27 points. Victor Scott poured in 21 points, and Mike Smith added 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the visitors. The RiverHawks outrebounded an opponent for the first time this season (34-32) and also held a halftime lead for the first time this year (37-33). NSU led by as much as 13 points in the first half before succumbing to the Blue Tigers. Lincoln led in points in the paint (32-22), points off turnovers (21-13) and steals (8-4). THE LAST TIME THEY MET - NSU 83, LWU 74Northeastern State defeated Lindenwood 83-74 on Dec. 7, 2013 inside Hyland Arena in a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association contest. The RiverHawks were led by a sensational performance from
Bryton Hobbs, who dropped a career-high 36 points. The St. Louis, Mo., native, playing in front of his family and friends, shot 10-of-17 from the field, 5-of-8 from downtown and 11-of-14 from the free-throw line. He also added seven assists and three rebounds, playing the entire 40 minutes of the game.

Landon DeMasters (10) contributed 22 points to the winning effort. The Lions suffered just their second home loss of the season and were unable to slow down Hobbs. Darris Smith led Lindenwood with 14 points, while Michael Boos and Tyler Ressel added 13 each and Barrett Reeg chipped in 11. NSU shot 57 percent (26-for-46) from the field, 42 percent (8-for-19) from behind the arc and 85 percent (23-for-27) at the charity stripe. The Lions shot 44 percent (27-for-62) from the field, 25 percent (5-for-20) from downtown and 83 percent (15-for-18) at the line. The RiverHawks used a 9-2 run early to find an 18-10 lead midway through the first half, and they were able to keep that margin for the remainder of the opening 20 minutes to take a 41-32 halftime lead. Hobbs scored 24 of his career-high 36 in the first half. Lindenwood got within six at 46-41 at the 12:55 mark of the second half, but a 13-2 run allowed the visitors to stretch the lead back out the double digits. The Lions made a spirited effort to get back into the game, but the margin proved insurmountable.

NSU SELECTED FOR NATIONAL CBS BROADCASTNortheastern State's regular-season matchup at Central Missouri has been chosen as the NCAA Division II National TV Game of the Week. The contest will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network beginning at 10 a.m. Dec. 20 in Warrensburg, Missouri. The contest will be the first nationally-televised game for Northeastern State since the Redmen won the 2003 NCAA Division II National Championship. The RiverHawks will travel to the UCM Multi-Purpose Building to face off with the defending national champions. NSU handed the Mules two of their five losses last season, once on Dec. 21 in Tahlequah (72-71) and again on March 7 in the MIAA Championship quarterfinals (84-82). There will be five NCAA Division II Men's Basketball National TV Games of the Week this season, with the contest between the RiverHawks and Mules serving as the first in 2014-15.Â

DROPPING 36Michael Harmon poured in a career-high 36 points in a 99-87 loss to Ouachita Baptist on Nov. 29 inside Tucker Coliseum. The senior guard has taken over the main scoring duties this season, which was apparent against the Tigers when he connected on 11-of-20 shots from the field and 6-of-12 attempts from 3-point territory. He also hit 8 of 9 from the free-throw line. The 36-point total is the second-highest scored by a player from the MIAA this season. Harmon also has two other games with at least 20 points.

HARRISON PICKS UP FIRST MIAA WEEKLY ACCOLADEDemone Harrison was named the MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced Oct. 15. The junior transfer from Houston, Texas, led Northeastern State in scoring in each of his first two games with the RiverHawks. In his second game, he poured in a game-high 30 points to lead NSU to a victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State. The point total was the highest single-game total by all MIAA players through the first week of the season. Harrison shot 55 percent (12-for-22) from the field, 67 percent (8-for-12) from downtown and 83 percent (15-for-18) at the free-throw line, while averaging 23.5 points per game. He also pulled down nine rebounds and only turned the ball over twice all weekend. He came off the bench in both games.

DeMASTERS NAMED TO NABC HONORS COURTSenior
Landon DeMasters was named to the 2013-14 NABC Honors Court, the National Association of Basketball Coaches announced July 21. The NABC Honors Court recognizes those men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season. The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. A record number 895 student-athletes from 335 colleges and universities earned NABC Honors Court Distinction. DeMasters, a Van Alstyne, Texas native, carries a 3.93 grade-point average in health and kinesiology. He was also named to the MIAA Honor Roll.
