UCO Completes Sweep over Northeastern State Sunday

Central Oklahoma outscores RiverHawks 41-7 across four-game sweep

EDMOND, Okla. – The Northeastern State baseball team lost 20-3 in the series finale against Central Oklahoma Sunday afternoon at Wendell Simmons Field.
 
The Bronchos improved to 21-7 overall and 17-7 in the MIAA, while the RiverHawks dropped to 14-17 overall and 10-14 MIAA.
 
NSU was outhit 23-3 in the series finale, and the three hits were from senior Kyle Singleton, junior Tyler Wilkins and sophomore Andrew Walker.
 
UCO scored at least two runs in every inning, which included a four-run first and a six-run fourth. Northeastern State was only able to respond with a solo run in the fourth and two in the fifth.
 
Tyler Crabtree, Cesar Wong and Jake O'Brien all belted four hits. Crabtree finished with five runs batted in and two runs scored. Josh Ingram and Wong both had four RBI, and O'Brien scored four times.
 
Junior Waylon Davis (2-4) took the loss after lasting just 1.1 innings on the mound. He allowed seven runners to cross the plate on seven hits. NSU went through four more pitchers in the contest.
 
Mason Justice (4-1) picked up the win for the Bronchos. He allowed three runs on three hits across 4.1 innings, while striking out eight and walking four.
 
Northeastern State will now meet Southeastern Oklahoma State in a non-conference midweek contest at 2 p.m. April 1.
