TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State women's soccer team lost 2-0 to the University of Central Oklahoma Friday evening at DeLoache Field.

The RiverHawks (2-2, 0-1 MIAA) dropped their conference opener, while the Bronchos moved to 1-0 in MIAA play (4-1 overall).

NSU held a slim 11-10 margin in shots, but the home team was unable to find the back of the net.

Gabi Bochus put the visitors on the board with a penalty kick in the 21st minute after NSU sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Woodruff was called for a tackle in the box. Bochus would then add an insurance marker in the 55th minute and the teams played out the remainder of the game without another score.

Woodruff had six saves in 90 minutes and fell to a 2-2 record.

NORTHEASTERN STATE COACH CHASE WOOTEN
On playing well despite the score line…
"I thought overall there were moments that we played really well. In the first half especially we really locked them in pretty well. We were unlucky to give up a penalty kick. That puts us in a place against a good team that now we have to chase the game a little bit. I think we showed our youth a little bit on the second goal. We were in a position where we weren't marking on a reset and just kind of got lost for a minute. That may be a reflection of it being the fourth game of the season and the fourth game in the careers of some of our girls. As the game wore on and we were chasing the game and the clock a little bit, the fact that we were so vertical and so long was a little bit frustrating. We had lots of positives but we have lots of teaching moments too."

On bouncing back for the match on Sunday against Missouri Southern State…
"Sunday's important and we're going to rest up and try to get our bodies healthy. I thought our kids battled hard tonight. I'm proud of that effort. We're hopeful that we can turn around and be at a good point to go on Sunday."
