Live StatsTAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State men's basketball team will host Washburn in MIAA play. The RiverHawks (4-13, 2-8 MIAA) will meet the Ichabods (10-10, 5-4 MIAA) at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 24 in the NSU Event Center.
NSU holds a 4-1 record over Washburn. Northeastern State topped the Ichabods 64-59 in the NCAA Second Round en route to winning the 2003 National Championship (March 15, 2003). The RiverHawks upset then-No. 10 ranked Washburn 85-78 Jan. 19, 2013. The two teams split the series during the regular season last year, while NSU defeated WU 79-75 in the opening round of the 2014 MIAA Men's Basketball Championship (Mar. 4, 2014). Northeastern State was picked 12th in the preseason MIAA coaches' poll, while Washburn was slated third.

SCOUTING THE ICHABODSÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Washburn University is located in Topeka, Kansas and the team competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The Ichabods are 10-10 in the 2014-15 season and have put up a 5-4 record in MIAA play. After losing to Pittsburg State (82-40) on Jan. 17, WU defeated Central Oklahoma (68-60) in their most recent game. Kyle Wiggins (13.4 ppg, 2.4 rpg) leads the Ichabods in scoring. Alex North (11.4 ppg, 6.9 rpg) also averages double-figure scoring and leads the squad in rebounding. Washburn averages 70.0 points per game and shoots .442 as a team.

THE LAST TIME OUT – NSU 67, ESU 57Northeastern State halted a five-game losing skid with a 67-57 victory over Emporia State Wednesday night inside the NSU Event Center. Junior forwardÂ
Dakota Caudill posted a career-high 20 points for the second-consecutive game. He finished 8 of 14 from the field, while adding five rebounds in 27 minutes. Senior guardÂ
Keon Littleton came off the bench and registered 16 points and five steals. Junior guard
Trey Mohair played all 40 minutes and filled the stat sheet with seven points, four assists, four steals, three rebounds and one block. NSU shot 51.1 percent (24-for-47) from the field, which marked the third time this year the RiverHawks shot at least 50 percent in a contest. They also boasted a 50-percent scoring clip (8-for-16) from downtown and a 78.6 percent (11-for-14) margin at the free-throw line. ESU shot 39.1 percent (18-for-46) overall, which was the second-lowest percentage shot against Northeastern State this season. The Hornets also shot 37 percent (10-for-27) from distance and 78.6 percent (11-for-14) at the line. Micah Swank led Emporia State with 19 points, but the rest of the visiting starters combined for just 20 points total. NSU dominated the points in the paint (26-14), points off turnovers (20-8) and steals (12-5). The RiverHawks also had fewer turnovers (9-18) and finished with more assists (17-13) and more bench points (24-18). The Hornets outrebounded NSU 33-22.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET – NSU 79, WU 75 Northeastern State ended the season for Washburn with a 79-75 victory on March 4, 2014 in Lee Arena in the opening round of the 2014 MIAA Championship. The No.9-seeded RiverHawks used a balanced effort to eliminate the No. 8-seeded Ichabods.
Landon DeMasters exploded for a career-high 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting in the winning performance. He connected on 4-of-7 three's and hit all three free-throw opportunities. Five RiverHawks scored in double figures, including

Michael Harmon also added eight points for NSU. Northeastern State shot 52.2 percent (24-for-46) from the field, 47.4 percent (9-for-19) from behind the 3-point line and 78.6 percent (22-for-28) at the free-throw line. The Ichabods shot 47.5 percent (28-for-59) from the field, 26.9 percent (7-for-26) from distance and 75 percent (12-for-16) at the charity stripe. Kyle Wiggins paced the home side with 24 points, while Alex North registered a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Korey Fisher added 11 points in the season-ending effort.

MIAA CHAMPIONSHIP IN KCThe 2015 MIAA Men's Basketball Championship is set to take place inside Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. The top 12 teams in the regular season all qualify for postseason play, with the top four earning byes to Kansas City. The first round will be contested at host sites March 2, with the fifth seed hosting No. 12, the sixth seed hosting No. 11, etc. Those four winners will join the top four seeds in KC March 5-8. Both NSU basketball programs have advanced to the MIAA Championship Quarterfinals in Kansas City in each of their first two years in the league.

NSU SELECTED 12TH IN MIAA PRESEASON POLLSThe Northeastern State men's basketball team was picked to finish 12th in the MIAA by the league coaches. The RiverHawks earned 39 points and are projected to finish just inside the cut line for the MIAA Championship tournament in May. Central Missouri topped the coaches' poll with 151 points total and 10 first-place votes a year removed from winning the national championship. Northeastern State finished 16-13 last season and 9-10 in the MIAA. NSU also lost head coach Larry Gipson, who retired at the end of the season. Senior forwardÂ
