Live StatsTAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State baseball team will begin MIAA competition by hosting a four-game series against Northwest Missouri State this week.

The RiverHawks (4-1), who are ranked No. 7 in the Central Region by the NCBWA, will host the Bearcats (2-5) in a noon doubleheader Feb. 19. The time and date for the final two games of the series are yet to be determined but will likely be played at Rousey Field beginning at noon Feb. 20.

The series was originally slated to be played Feb. 20-22, but recent weather in Tahlequah combined with poor forecasts for this upcoming weekend have resulted in multiple alterations to the schedule.

NSU opened up the campaign with a 10-inning home triumph over Oklahoma Christian (3-2) before taking three of four games in a home-and-home set with Pittsburg State. The RiverHawks are led on the mound by reigning MIAA Pitcher of the Week
Kyle Shambaugh, who is 2-0 on the year with a 1.12 ERA and seven strikeouts in 8.0 innings pitched.

Northwest Missouri State has opened its season with a 2-5 record. The team owns a 16-4 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State and a 5-3 triumph over Cameron. The Bearcats also lost 12-11 to NWOSU and dropped the other three games against the Aggies. NWMSU's other loss came against Regis (9-7).

NSU and NWMSU have met just once since NSU joined the MIAA prior to the 2013 season. The two teams played a three-game set in Tahlequah to kickoff the 2013 campaign, and the RiverHawks won the series 2-1.
