TicketsTAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State men's basketball team is set to host Fort Hays State in the final game of the 2014-15 season. The RiverHawks (6-19, 4-14 MIAA) will meet the Tigers (16-11, 9-9 MIAA) at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 28 in the NSU Event Center. NSU must win in order to make the MIAA Championship tournament. Seniors

The series between NSU and FHSU is tied 2-2 since the teams began playing in NSU's NCAA era (since 1996). Fort Hays State won the first meeting this year in Hays (Jan. 17). Northeastern State was picked 12th in the preseason MIAA coaches' poll, while the Tigers were slated second.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS Fort Hays State University is located in Hays, Kansas, and the team competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The Tigers are 16-11 in the 2014-15 season and have put up a 9-9 record in MIAA play. FHSU has lost its last two games at Nebraska-Kearney and at Central Oklahoma. The Tigers are currently tied for eighth place in the MIAA standings. Dom Samac (11.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg) leads the team in scoring. Achoki Moikobu (10.1 ppg, 2.9 rpg) also averages double-figure scoring. Fort Hays State averages 76.5 points per game and shoots .484 as a team.
THE LAST TIME OUT – UNK 71, NSU 60Northeastern State dropped a 71-60 decision to Nebraska-Kearney Thursday evening inside the NSU Event Center. In the loss to the Lopers (17-9, 10-7 MIAA),
Dakota Caudill came off the bench to lead the team with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Keon Littleton added 11 points and eight rebounds, and
Amir Gilliam chipped in eight points and eight boards. The RiverHawks shot 34.3 percent (23-for-67) overall, 28.6 percent (4-for-14) from behind the 3-point arc and 62.5 percent (10-for-16) at the free-throw line. UNK shot 47.2 percent (25-for-53) from the field, 29.2 percent (7-for-24) from distance and 58.3 percent (14-for-24) at the charity stripe. Connor Beranek paced the visitors with 25 points and nine rebounds. He also had four blocks and three assists. Trey Lansman had 19 points, eight rebounds and six blocks. NSU led in second-chance points (19-8) and bench points (24-6), while committing fewer turnovers (12-19) and narrowly losing the rebounding battled (41-40).
THE LAST TIME THEY MET – FHSU 77, NSU 49 Northeastern State lost 77-49 to Fort Hays State University Jan. 17 inside Gross Memorial Coliseum.
Dakota Caudill tallied a career-high 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting. He also pulled down seven rebounds in 37 minutes. NSU shot 31.9 percent (15-for-47) from the field, 27.3 percent (6-for-22) from behind the 3-point line and 50 percent (13-for-26) at the charity stripe. FHSU shot 60 percent (30-for-50) overall, 47.4 percent (9-for-19) from distance and 66.7 percent (9-for-12) at the free-throw line. Jeremy Wilson paced the Tigers with 17 points. Achoki Moikobu added 14, Royce Williams contributed 12 and Dom Samac chipped in 11. FHSU outrebounded NSU 40-22 and led in assists, 22-11. NSU finished with fewer turnovers (14-20) and more steals (9-6).
HALL OF FAME INDUCTEESNortheastern State University Director of Athletics
Tony Duckworth announced Jan. 10 the 2015 NSU Athletics Hall of Fame inductees. The newest class includes three All-Americans, one national championship team, one World War II veteran, and a former member of the field hockey and volleyball teams. The additions to the NSU Athletics Hall of Fame are Mike Adams, Jim Bittle, Eric Moore, Keith Miller, and the 1994 Football Team. Rose Cheek has been selected as the first Spirit of Excellence member. The class will be enshrined at the annual Hall of Fame Banquet at 11 a.m. Feb. 28 in the community room of the NSU Event Center. The banquet will precede the Northeastern State basketball team's contests against Fort Hays State University.
MIAA CHAMPIONSHIP IN KCThe 2015 MIAA Men's Basketball Championship is set to take place inside Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. The top 12 teams in the regular season all qualify for postseason play, with the top four earning byes to Kansas City. The first round will be contested at host sites March 2, with the fifth seed hosting No. 12, the sixth seed hosting No. 11, etc. Those four winners will join the top four seeds in KC March 5-8. Both NSU basketball programs have advanced to the MIAA Championship Quarterfinals in Kansas City in each of their first two years in the league.
IF THE SEASON WERE TO END TODAYNSU is currently 4-14 in league play and sits in 13th in the MIAA standings. If the season were to end today, the RiverHawks would miss out on participating in the MIAA Championship. With a game remaining in the regular season, the RiverHawks will need to win their final game to earn the 12 seed and play in the first round of the tournament.

TICKETS REQUIRED FOR ENTRY IN 2014-15All fans wishing to attend an NSU home basketball contest this season will be required to show a ticket prior to entering the facilities. NSU students and faculty/staff will still be allowed free admittance, but NSU ID's will no longer be accepted as a form of entry.
