TAHLEQUAH – The RiverHawks Women's Soccer team will wrap up their four-match homestand this weekend when they host Washburn Friday night and Emporia State Sunday afternoon in MIAA action.
First Touches
1. The RiverHawks are 6-3-1 this season, with a 1-2 conference record. They picked up their first conference win of the season on Sunday when they beat Missouri Southern 2-1 thanks to goals from
Mariah Nicolet and
Paige Lorenzo.
2. Nicolet leads the RiverHawks with six goals on the season while
Paulina Chavez has three with
Sarah Rector and
Hannah Stettler each contributing two. Nicolet also leads the RiverHawks with 12 shots while Rector has two assists to lead the team in that category.
3. NSU is 6-1-1 all-time against the Ichabods, with their last win coming on Oct. 2, 2016. Since then, Washburn has picked up one win (Nov. 1, 2017) and the two teams played to a 1-1 draw in their most recent matchup (Oct. 12, 2018). Against the Hornets, NSU is 6-4 all-time, though the Hornets won the most recent meeting on Oct. 31, 2018.

Chase Wooten is in his ninth season as head coach of the RiverHawks, with a career record of 114-53-15, the best in school history. He has taken NSU to the MIAA Tournament for seven straight seasons, including a berth in the conference finals in 2015.
5. Washburn brings a 5-4 record into the matchup, with a 1-2 mark in conference action. Their lone conference win came on Sept. 29 when they outlasted Nebraska-Kearney 1-0. Olivia Grasso has three goals to lead the Ichabods while Tera Lunch leads with five assists and 18 shots on goal. Raegan Wells has played in all nine matches, making 48 saves on the season.
6. The Hornets enter the weekend with an 8-2 record, their best start in school history. They are 3-0 in conference action and will face Rogers State on Friday before coming to Tahlequah. Mackenzie Dimarco leads the Hornets with six goals on 21 shots on goal and two assists. Other Hornets to have multiple goals are Aislinn Hughes, Tanna Benefiel,
Kennedy Hoffman and Gaby Crowell, all of whom have two. Jillian Patton has been the primary goalkeeper, with 32 saves and three shutouts.
Looking Ahead: Next weekend the RiverHawks will begin a string of four consecutive road matches, facing Missouri Western on Oct. 18 and Northwest Missouri State on Oct. 20.
