ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- Northeastern State finished the Holiday Inn Express Classic in the same place they started and will return home in seventh, shooting a score of 887 (297-299-291).
Casey Paul led the RiverHawks, finishing tied for 12th with a score of 217 (77-70-70). He sunk five birdies in the final round.
Jax Johnson finished tied for 25th with a score of 221 (72-70-79), just one stroke ahead of
Carlos Gomez, who carded a 222 (72-73-77).
Dustin Anderson finished tied for 50th at 228 (76-75-77), while
Grant Hynes finished at 236 (79-74-83).
Hynes and Gomez both had an eagle during the tournament, making NSU the only team to record multiple eagles. They also had 32 birdies throughout the tournament, with Johnson and Paul both having nine. Anderson finished with eight birdies, four of which came in the second round.
Central Missouri won the team championship by five strokes over second-place Washburn after shooting 857 (277-289-291). The RiverHawks finished tied with Sioux Falls and Rogers State for seventh place.
With the tournament being an MIAA designated event, the RiverHawks were tied RSU as the fifth-best finishing team.
NSU will wrap up their fall schedule on Oct. 14-15 when they compete at the NCAA II Men's National Preview in St. Louis, Mo.
