RiverHawks add McLaughlin to roster

TAHLEQUAH — Men's Basketball Head Coach Mark Downey has announced the signing of Iain McLaughlin, who will join the RiverHawks as a transfer after spending two years playing at North Idaho College.

"Iain is the long, skilled four man that we have been trying to recruit since I got to NSU," Downey said. "He is simply a winner. He has won at every level from high school to junior college. Iain has been well-coached and he is not afraid to be a leader."

Last season, McLaughlin averaged 7.5 points and five rebounds per game while helping North Idaho to a 31-2 overall record and an undefeated 16-0 record in region play while winning two consecutive Northwest Athletic Conference championships.

McLaughlin shared the court with three high-level NCAA Division I players with signees heading to Florida State, Utah State, and Washington.

"He is one of the most versatile players to come through the NIC program" North Idaho assistant coach George Swanson said. "He's a great team guy and he'll do anything to help the team win."

McLaughlin is a native of Bellevue, Washington and attended East Side Catholic High School, where he led his team to the state championship game.
