Opening Tip 
  • Saturday is the middle game of a streak of three games in six days for NSU.  Tuesday's home contest with Missouri Western is a make-up date due to COVID-19 protocols.
  • Speaking of COVID-19 protocols, fans will are limited to 25% at Pitt State on Saturday.  Face coverings are required for fans while inside the venue.
  • Caleb Williams' 36-point effort against Missouri Southern is the highest this season for any MIAA student-athlete by nine and third-most in NCAA Division II Men's Basketball this season so far and tied for fourth-most across all three divisions.
  • For ten NSU student-athletes, it will be the first time that they will face Pitt State. 
  • Within the NCAA Central Region, the MIAA is the only one playing at the moment of the three conferences.  Both the Northeastern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and Great American Conference will not start play until Jan. 2021.  
  • The MIAA Coaches voted the RiverHawks to finish in 13th this season.

The Series with Pitt State
  • The RiverHawks struggled to get into the win column at Pitt State and have dropped their last nine on their home floor dating back to 2001.
  • Pitt State has won nine of the last ten meetings between the two programs. 
  • Saturday's game will be the 26th time out of 43 that NSU will visit Pitt State in December.   They met once on Dec. 5, a 64-62 road loss for NSU in 2000.
  • One of NSU's oldest active series with the first meeting coming on Dec. 21, 1927.
  • In Tahlequah, NSU is 14-17 against the Gorillas. 
  • Head Coach Ja Havens is 0-1 against the Gorillas. 
About the Gorillas
  • Has dropped its last two games in a row, lost on Thursday evening in their home opener to Rogers State in overtime 87-80.
  • The Gorillas have not gone 0-2 to start their season home since the 2008-09 season.  Before that, the last time they went 0-2 to begin their home schedule was the 1993-94 season.
  • The starting lineup has remained the same in all four games this season.  
  • UW-Milwaukee senior transfer Bobby Arthur-Williams Jr. leads the Gorillas in scoring with just under 15 points per game. 
  • The roster features one Oklahoma player with R.J. Forney Jr., a Broken Arrow native and a graduate from Union High School.
  • Four of Pitt State's players are one-and-done athletes, transferring with one year of eligibility. 
Looking Back
  • The RiverHawks earned its first win against a ranked opponent since 2016 with a 90-89 road victory at Missouri Southern.
  • Caleb Williams had 24 points at the half and had 36 overall in the win.  He shot 10-for-20 from the field and had seven treys.
  • Williams was one of four in double-figures for NSU, with Kavion Hancock having 16 off the bench, Trey Sampson had 11 points in his debut, with Rashad Perkins matching him on the stat sheet.
  • First NSU win for head coach Ja Havens
  • First time since Dec. 5, 2013, at Lincoln (87-72) that NSU opened league play with a victory.
