EDMOND --
Aitana Hernandez and
Kaylee Petersen are tied for fifth, with the RiverHawks in fourth place after the open round of the Grace Shin Invitational Monday.
The pair shot one-over 72s on the Golf Club of Edmond and had five birdies to help give NSU a 300 as a team.
Hernandez flirted with the lead after going one-under-par through the front nine; she would finish the day going two-over on the back half of the course.
Northeastern State was uneven on the course leading the 20 team field with 15 birdies but was 15th with 42 pars. They are nine strokes back of the lead, with Rogers State holding a four-shot lead over Central Missouri.
Nina Lee rebounded from a six-over on her first ten pins and finished the day with eight straight pars, good for a 77 and tied for 31st overall.
Yasmin Hang carded a 79 and was tied for 43rd, and
Macy Rutland had an 81, tied for 63rd place.
RSU's Ellen Loving is the medallist leader through one round, carding a 69, and holds a one-stroke lead over Cameron's Iona Roska.
Northeastern State will close out the tournament Tuesday morning, paired with Rogers Central Missouri, Nebraska-Kearney, and Rogers State.
