KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Northeastern State is picked to finish fourth in women's golf and the men's program is voted to place sixth with the release of the MIAA Preseason Golf Polls Tuesday.
The women's golf team picked up two first-place votes from the MIAA coaches with a tight race in the top four spots with eight points separating those teams.
Central Oklahoma is the preseason favorite with 83 points and four first-place votes, Rogers State took the remaining four first-place tallies and was second with 78 points. Central Missouri is third with 75 points.
Missouri Western rounded out the top five in the poll with 57 points.
Nebraska Kearney was sixth with 44 points, Northwest Missouri was seventh with 36 points, followed by Missouri Southern in eighth with 35 points. Fort Hays State was selected ninth while Newman followed close behind in 10th. Lincoln concluded the poll in 11th.
Northeastern State had 45 points in the men's golf with two points separating them from a fourth-place tie between Central Oklahoma and Missouri Western.
Central Missouri topped the poll with 72 points and the majority of first-place votes with eight.
Washburn earned the remaining first-place vote and totaled 60 points for the second-place spot on the poll. Rogers State was selected third with 52 total points.
Missouri Southern was seventh with 36 points and Fort Hays State was selected eighth with 23 points. Lincoln was picked ninth while Newman concluded the poll in 10th.
