NSU softball Midwestern State Sunday for home opener

2/26/2022 2:25:00 PM

TAHLEQUAH – NSU softball will host Midwestern State for the first time since 2010 Sunday for a previously unscheduled non-conference doubleheader.

Due to field conditions, the RiverHawks had to cancel its Cherokee Nation Softball Festival, which was intended to feature six teams.

Enter the Mustangs, who were supposed to be in Springfield for an invitational hosted by Drury, but saw their weekend plans change due to unplayable field conditions.  Midwestern State will come to Tahlequah 1-8 overall and has dropped its last six contests.   Against the Mustangs, NSU is 4-30 but has only faced Midwestern State once since 2014.

The RiverHawks enter their home opener with a 7-6 overall record, with head coach Clay Davis winning his 300th collegiate game on Sunday.   Senior catcher Alyssia Crick leads the team at the plate with a .419 batting average and holds a .529 on-base percentage.

First pitch from RiverHawks Park is at noon.
