LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Northeastern State men's golf team moved up on the leaderboard, taking the first place spot after day two of The Warrior Invitational.
The RiverHawks are carding an even 600 (294-306) with Winona State University subsequent NSU very closely with an overall score of 602 (295-307).
Christian Yanovitch had an incredible day shooting 141 (74-67), moving up eight places and putting him tied for first with Alessandro Trenta of Winona State. Yanovitch is also tied for second-most birdies, having nine after today.
"Christian's five-under, 67 in these gusting desert winds, playing conditions, on an already tough golf course was one of the best rounds of golf I have seen in a long time," said head coach
Scott Varner. The boys fought hard; sometimes, you have to gut it out and just win ugly. We are in a great position to get that W."
Carlos Gomez remains one of the lowest scoring players from NSU and is tied with three others for eighth place after shooting a 150 (69-81).
Ryan Morant moved up in rankings and is tied for 13th after shooting a 153 (75-78).
Brett Wilcoxen turned in a 157 (77-80) moving him to a four way tie for 19th place.
Parker Rose is trailing close behind Wilcoxen but moved down to a tie for 23rd place after scoring a 158 (76-82).
Southwestern Oklahoma is following NSU and Winona with a score of 605 (297-308). Alessandro Trenta of Winona State is currently first on the medalist board after shooting a 64 today. Aaron Buck from Redlands (Calif.) is close behind Yanovitch and Trenta, scoring 143 (72-71).
The RiverHawks will return to the course Saturday at 9 a.m. for the final round of play.
