TAHLEQUAH – Arkansas Tech grabbed a pair of three-set wins on the final courts Wednesday to hand Northeastern State a 5-2 home loss.
The contest was NSU's final non-conference test and was a rough way to open up its three-match homestand this week.
"Obviously a tough loss against a really good Arkansas Tech team," said head coach
Tim McLane. "We were short-handed today, but I thought we did a good job stepping up and competing. The fight was there all day and we had plenty of chances, just need to do a better job of executing to close out points and games.
We'll get that cleaned up a little and hopefully be able to he at full strength for a couple very important conference matches here at home."
Roos Karremans rallied from being swept in her first set and didn't lose a game the rest of the way to win court three.
Valeria Teran won fours (0-6, 6-2, 6-4) after being swept in set one.
The Golden Suns (9-6) edged the RiverHawks in doubles, winning the final two games on court two for the early point.
Northeastern State drops to 8-5 overall and will host Northwest Missouri Friday at 10 a.m.
