TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State women's tennis team breezed to a 9-0 win over Washburn Friday afternoon on the NSU Tennis Courts.
 
The RiverHawks (11-1, 4-0 MIAA) collected their 10th-straight victory and dropped the Lady Blues to 0-6 (0-1 MIAA) on the season. NSU never lost a set in singles play and won doubles by a collective score of 24-6.
 
The doubles sweep began on Court 3, where junior Martina Bruzikova and sophomore Barbora Jirickova dropped Nzingha Banks and Rachael Hageman 8-0.
 
Senior Ivana Belejova and freshman Kristina Savchenkov lost the first four games on the top doubles court, but the RiverHawk duo blew away Kirsten Holle and Jodie Blackim the rest of the way, winning the final eight games in an 8-4 triumph.
 
The junior pair of Houda Bellamine and Jeanne Mallem put Northeastern State ahead 3-0 with an 8-2 victory over Sophie O'Neill and Gwen Shepler on the second court.
 
Mallem was the first off in singles play, earning a 6-0, 6-0 win over Holle at the third position. Bellamine quickly joined her doubles teammate after taking down Shepler 6-1, 6- 0 from the fourth singles court.
 
Savchenkov trumped Blackim 6-1, 6-1 at the second flight, while Bruzikova found a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Banks on the fifth court.
 
Jirickova got past Ashlynn Sutton 6-1, 6-1 at the sixth position, and Belejova closed proceedings with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over O'Neill at the top of the lineup.
 
Northeastern State is currently in the midst of a stretch of three home matches in three days. The final of those matches will be against Emporia State and will begin  at 9 a.m. March 9.
