KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The No. 37-ranked Northeastern State women's tennis team will meet Washburn University in the first round of the 2013 MIAA Women's Tennis Championship at 11 a.m. April 19 at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo., the MIAA announced Wednesday.
The RiverHawks (20-2, 9-1 MIAA) earned the second seed in the tournament in their inaugural season in the MIAA, and the Lady Blues (5-15, 4-7 MIAA) will be the No. 7 seed.
The two teams met on March 8 in Tahlequah, with NSU picking up the 9-0 victory. WU has won three of its last four matches heading into the league tournament.
Potential semifinal opponents are No. 3 seed Central Oklahoma and No. 6 Emporia State. The semifinals will be held at 1 p.m. April 20, and the championship match will begin at 11 a.m. April 21.
The non-advancing team from each quarterfinal match will compete in a back draw.
The men's tournament will also be contested April 19-21 at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
