2014 ITA All-AmericansSKILLMAN, N.J. –
Kristina Savchenkov was named a 2014 ITA Division II Women's Tennis All-American in singles, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Friday morning.
The sophomore from Moscow, Russia, ended the season ranked No. 14 in the country after posting an 18-6 mark overall during the dual season at the No. 1 singles position. She was also recently named to the All-MIAA First Team in doubles and the All-MIAA Second Team in singles.
Savchenkov becomes the seventh ITA All-American at NSU in the NCAA D-II era (since 1997) and the first since 2003. Former ITA All-Americans at Northeastern State include Neus Barbera (2003), Zorana Stefanovic (2002-03), Maite Vila (2001), Evelina Akkers (2001), Zdena Rebekova (2000), and Sanja Milas (1999).
To earn All-American status by the ITA, a player must finish in the top 20 of the final ITA College Tennis Singles Rankings or finish in the top 10 of the final ITA College Tennis Doubles Rankings.
Savchenkov is also the 10th student-athlete at Northeastern State to be named an All-American since NSU joined the MIAA prior to the 2012-13 academic year (full list below).
