NORTHEASTERN STATE COACH AMANDA STONE
Statement…
"You hate to end the trip with a loss, but we all fought hard today. This trip proved that, talent-wise and physically, we can match up with just about anybody. Now the key for us is we have to start closing the gap mentally. I'm hoping that the team takes away a lot of confidence in ourselves. We're right there, we just need to make that final step. I'm really proud of our freshmen with how they stepped up. They grew up a lot on this trip. As a team, we see what it takes to be at this top level and now we know what needs to be done if we want to be one of these top teams. Yes we lost to the No. 7-ranked team today, but they also beat the No. 3-ranked team yesterday (St. Leo). We had the match in our hands on Monday (against Columbus State). There's really not that much separating No. 3 from No. 20. We just have to learn to be the team that comes out of the gates firing on all cylinders. We need to be the aggressor right from the first serve. We need to believe that we are going to do whatever it takes to win. I hope we can grow from this experience."
