ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The No. 21-ranked Northeastern State women's tennis team defeated Lindenwood 7-2 Friday afternoon at the Lindenwood Tennis Complex.

The RiverHawks improved to 10-3 on the season and 6-0 in the MIAA, while the Lions dropped to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in the league.

NSU swept all three doubles points for the 10th time this season and secured four of the singles courts to remain perfect against conference opponents.

First off in doubles was the No. 3 pair of senior Barbora Jirickova and freshman Molly Worden. They breezed past Diana Castro and Alexandra Medvedeva 8-0. The No. 12-ranked doubles team of juniors Kristina Savchenkov and Patricia Husakova then defeated Gloria Marras and Clara Piccamiglio 8-2 on the top court. Sophomore Valeriia Efimenko and freshman Easton Parker completed the sweep with an 8-4 win on the second court over Daria Ivanova and Mariona Pinol.

Lindenwood picked up its first point of the match on the fifth court when Parker was forced to retire after just one game.

There would be no comeback, however, as NSU quickly clinched the team victory. Husakova first topped Piccamiglio 6-0, 6-0 on the second court, and junior Lucia Cerchlanova wrapped up the day when she defeated Savannah Martin 6-0, 6-1 at the sixth position.

Savchenkov, the No. 21-ranked singles player in the nation, earned a sixth point for the RiverHawks when she defeated Marras 6-4, 6-1 on the top court. Worden then got past Ivanova 6-2, 6-1 at the third flight. Pinol closed out the match with a 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-3) victory over Jirickova at the fourth position.
