SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The No. 21-ranked Northeastern State women's tennis team defeated Nebraska-Kearney 5-0 in the semifinals of the 2015 MIAA Championship Saturday morning inside Cooper Tennis Complex.
 
The top-seeded RiverHawks (18-4) battled winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour on the day to win all three doubles points and quickly earn two singles triumphs over the Lopers (21-6). The green and white will meet second seed and No. 19-ranked Southwest Baptist at 9 a.m. April 26 in the championship match.
 
Sunday's tilt will mark the third-straight year NSU and SBU have met in the finals. The Bearcats (21-2) are the three-time defending tournament champions.
 
The doubles sweep began on the top court, where the No. 12-ranked duo of juniors Kristina Savchenkov and Patricia Husakova defeated Emily Fink and Sthefani Rodriguez 8-1. Sophomore Valeriia Efimenko and freshman Molly Worden added a second point when they defeated Paula Jimenez and Kristin Weems 8-3 at the second flight.
 
Senior Barbora Jirickova and freshman Easton Parker came from 6-2 down on the third court to defeat Kari Emery and Emma Neil 9-8 (7-4).
 
Savchenkov, ranked No. 21 in the nation in singles, defeated Weems 6-1, 6-0 at the top of the singles lineup. Husakova clinched the victory on the second court, where she defeated Rodriguez 6-0, 6-3. The other four singles matches went unfinished.
