TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The No. 16-ranked Northeastern State women's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory over Lindenwood Thursday afternoon at the NSU Tennis Complex.
 
The RiverHawks (10-2, 5-0 MIAA) reached the halfway point of the conference campaign unbeaten and extended their win streak against MIAA foes during the regular season to 24-straight matches. NSU won the seven contested matches and defaulted at two lines to hand the Lions (7-5, 2-1 MIAA) their only two points of the match.
 
Senior Patricia Husakova and sophomore Daria Panferova kicked off doubles with a swift 8-0 victory over Anna Barbasheva and Gloria Marras on the top court. Junior Valeriia Efimenko and true freshman Karla Tomaic tied the match at 2-2 when they earned an 8-2 win at the second position over Daria Ivanova and Clara Piccamiglio.
 
Tomaic gave the RiverHawks a 3-2 lead when she defeated Ivanova 6-1, 6-1 at the fifth singles court. The penultimate point came from sophomore Molly Worden on the fourth court where she topped Diana Castro 6-0, 6-1.
 
The clinching point was from Efimenko after she topped Piccamiglio 6-1, 7-5 at the third position, and Panferova quickly followed with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Marras at the No. 2 flight.
 
Husakova, the nation's No. 32-ranked singles player, closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Barbasheva at the top of the order.
 
Northeastern State is in the midst of a stretch where the team will compete in three matches over the course of three days. The second of those matches will be against No. 41 St. Edward's, and the two teams will meet on neutral grounds at 11 a.m. April 1 in Edmond, Oklahoma.
