EDMOND, Okla. – The No. 16-ranked Northeastern State women's tennis team collected a 7-2 victory over No. 41 St. Edward's Friday afternoon on the Broncho Tennis Courts.
 
The RiverHawks (11-2) won their seventh-straight match, while at the same time ending the Hilltoppers' (11-4) five-match win streak.
 
NSU secured all contested matches, and the only two points won by SEU were when the green and white defaulted at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles due to an incomplete lineup.
 
Northeastern State started the match on a high note by winning the two contested doubles courts. On the top court, senior Patricia Husakova teamed with sophomore Daria Panferova to defeat Anjali Sampath and Marissa Williams by an 8-2 margin.
 
Junior Valeriia Efimenko and true freshman Karla Tomaic cruised to an 8-3 win at the second position over Ivana Zecevic and Laura Galvan.
 
Efimenko blew past Williams on the third singles court to the tune of a 6-0, 6-4 triumph, and Panferova closed out Zecevic 6-3, 6-2 from the second flight.
 
No. 32 Husakova clinched the team victory when she got past Sampath 6-1, 7-5 at the top of the order. Sophomore Molly Worden added a sixth point on the strength of a 6-1, 6-2 win over Galvan from the fourth position, and Tomaic ended the match with a hard-fought 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) triumph over Valentina Martinez on the fifth court.
 
The RiverHawks are currently in a stretch of three matches across three days. They defeated Lindenwood 7-2 in Tahlequah on Thursday and are set to meet MIAA foe and chief rival Central Oklahoma at 9 a.m. April 2 in Edmond.
