VICKSBURG, Miss. – Northeastern State came up short in singles as they fell 4-3 to NCAA Division I Alcorn State on Friday afternoon.
 
The RiverHawks' lower three singles groupings all lost to the Braves, while showing strength in its top-courts. 
 
In doubles competition, Molly Worden and Val Efimenko had no problem in court-one with a 6-1 win.  However, Alcorn State took down the RiverHawks in a pair of 6-4 wins to take the doubles point.
 
When play switched over to singles, Northeastern State lost on court five and six before Efimenko moved to 7-1 this season with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court-two.  Caitlin McCullough got the RiverHawks back within one after a 6-1, 7-5 win in the three slot.   Alcorn clinched the overall win on court-four in three sets; Worden completed her singles match with a 2-6, 6-1, 10-8 win.
 
This was NSU's third NCAA Division I match of the season where they are 1-2 now and will face Central Arkansas on Saturday.
 
Alcorn State with the win goes to 1-5 and Northeastern State is 5-3 this season.
