INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the third week Northeastern State remained at No. 5 in the latest NCAA Central Region Poll that was released on Wednesday afternoon.
This is the final poll prior to selections that will help determine the field of 48 teams that will be in this fall's NCAA National Tournament. Seven teams will advance to the national tournament with the Great American Conference (GAC), Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), and MIAA having an automatic berth by winning its conference tournament. Four teams will be selected as at-large bids with the region split as the top-two seeds hosting.
Central Missouri sits on-top of the poll with Concordia St. Paul in second. Minnesota State and Augustana are just ahead of NSU with Central Oklahoma and Emporia State, making up the rest of the top seven.
If the tournament were to start today, the RiverHawks would face Augustana at Central Missouri, with the winner advancing to play UCM.
The RiverHawks play in the MIAA Tournament Semifinal this Friday at 4 p.m. in Warrensburg, Mo.
