TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State tennis coach
Charity Andrews has announced the signing of
Chloe Certain and
Belinda Jayaprakash to National Letters of Intent along with
Chiara Carnelutti and
Vera Carvalho as incoming transfers.
Carvalho will come to NSU with two years of eligibility remaining after playing at NCAA Division I Stephen F. Austin. The native of Lisbon, Portugal played in 13 singles, and 12 doubles matches for the 'Jacks. She was a U12, U14, U16 National Team member and won the national team championship twice in her homeland.
Carnelutti is transferring in after redshirting her true freshman season at South Carolina State (NCAA Division I). She was a member of a squad that won the MEAC Championship and reached the NCAA Tournament. In Argentina, Carnelutti in 2017 was ranked as high as second in singles and third in doubles.
Certain will be a freshman for NSU and was a two-time Regional team champion with eight tournament championships in France.
Jayaprakash joins the RiverHawks from Perth, Australia where she won multiple individual and doubles tournament championships. She won the Blue Gum Women's Club Championship in 2019 and served as a reserve for State Team U18s one year ago.
Northeastern State finished the 2019 season ranked No. 43 nationally with two ITA All-Americans.
