Opening Tip 
  • The final game of a stretch of three contests in six days for the RiverHawks.  Tuesday is a makeup date from NSU's opening weekend that was paused due to COVID-19 protocols.
  • Lone men's basketball game of the day on the MIAA docket. 
  • Tuesday's game is being played in the afternoon to accommodate for finals week at Northeastern State.
  • NSU is looking for a starting combination and has gone with a different group in all three games this season.
  • Following Tuesday's game with the Griffons, NSU will not play another game until Dec. 18, where they will make their longest trip of the season to Fort Hays State then Nebraska-Kearney on Dec. 20.
  • For ten NSU student-athletes, it will be the first time that they will face Missouri Western. 
  • Within the NCAA Central Region, the MIAA is the only one playing at the moment of the three conferences.  Both the Northeastern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and Great American Conference will not start play until Jan. 2021.  
  • The MIAA Coaches voted the RiverHawks to finish in 13th this season.

The Series with Missouri Western
  • The RiverHawks trail the overall series 4-8, but in the last three meetings, the margin of victory was no greater than five points. 
  • Northeastern State is 3-2 at home against the Griffons, with their two losses coming by one point. 
  • Tuesday will be the fourth December meeting with the Griffons.
  • Head Coach Ja Havens is 1-0 All-time against the Griffons.  Havens faced Missouri Western last on Nov. 28, 2014, while he was the head coach at East Central; the Tigers won that contest 73-59 in Springfield, Mo. 
About the Griffons
  • The Griffons are one of four MIAA teams undefeated and are on their best conference start since the 1998-99 season. 
  • Leads the MIAA in scoring per game with 85.7 points an outing, and its defense is fourth, allowing 69.7 points per game. 
  • Middle of the pack in the MIAA in shooting (41.9-percent) put averages 66 shots taken per outing. 
  • Boasts a larger roster with 17 players who will suit up at NSU.
  • Return 11 players from a season ago, including four starters, 75% of the scoring.
  • MWSU Head Coach Will Martin is in his first season after spending the last two seasons as the program's assistant coach.
Looking Back
  • Brad Davis led the RiverHawks in scoring for the second time this season with 16-points in an 81-71 loss at Pitt State. 
  • The RiverHawks clawed their way from a 14-point halftime deficit and got within two of the Gorillas with 5:05 left in the game. 
  • DeVonta Prince and Trey Sampson both earned their first starts of the season for NSU on Saturday.
  • Kavion Hancock went 12-12 at the free-throw line; he is the first to go at-least 10-10 at the line since Tanner Mouse in 2016.
