RiverHawks to continue non-conference action against Savage Storm, Aggies

TAHLEQUAH – The RiverHawks Women's Tennis team will be back in action this weekend, as they will travel to Southeastern Oklahoma on Friday afternoon before hosting Cameron Saturday at 1 p.m. The Saturday match against Cameron will be played at Tahlequah HS.

Opening Serve
1. The RiverHawks are 1-1 on the season, having beaten Ouachita Baptist 7-0 and lost to Tarleton State 4-3. #3 ranked Tatjana Stoll went 2-0 on the weekend, picking up wins over #35 Alicia Barbaroux of Tarleton State and Makelih Turner of OBU.

2. Melissa Vera and Chloe Certain were also undefeated, with Certain picking up wins over Deltina Rodriguez of Tarleton State and Clarie Phillips of OBU. Vera opened the weekend with a win over Gaayatri Shankar of Tarleton before dispatching Taylor Hansard on Saturday.

3. NSU is voted to finish tied for third in the MIAA this season according to the preseason coaches' poll. The RiverHawks are slated to finish tied with Washburn.  Charity Andrews is entering her second season as head coach. In her first season, she took the RiverHawks to the MIAA Tournament. Before coming to NSU, she had been the head coach of the men's and women's programs at Cowley Community College (Arkansas City, Kan.).

4. The Savage Storm are 2-1 on the season, with wins coming over UT-Dallas (6-3) and Austin College (6-1). This will be the start of a three-match weekend for Southeastern, as they will host Midwestern State on Saturday before facing Missouri Western on Sunday. The Savage Storm were picked to finish fifth in the GAC preseason poll.

5. Cameron is winless in two contests season, with losses to Drury and No. 20 Washburn. They swept doubles play against Washburn, but won just two matches in singles play. Before facing NSU, they will host Seward County CC in an exhibition on Friday afternoon.  Andrews and Aggies' head coach Josh Cobble worked together at Cowley County CC. 

Up Next: The RiverHawks will face Southern Arkansas on Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. The match will be played in Tulsa.
