RiverHawks continue conference play at home

TAHLEQUAH – Riding a four-match winning streak, Northeastern State tennis hosts Northwest Missouri and Washburn at the NSU Tennis Complex.

FIRST SERVE

  1. Northeastern State is hosting a donation drive Friday to support Rowdy's Resource Room. Suggested donations include: toiletries, clothes, nonperishable food, and school supplies.
  2. Northeastern State has played its last seven matches on the road and has only played once in Tahlequah this spring downing Oklahoma Baptist 5-2 on March 4.
  3. The RiverHawks have secured the doubles point in all six of their wins. All three flights won their matches up north to open MIAA play.
  4. After experimenting with different lineups, NSU seems to have found a winning combination by moving Melissa Vera to the No. 4 flight in singles where she is 4-1. Vera and two other RiverHawks are riding four-match singles win streaks. Maria Popova is 5-2 this season on court No. 2 and Vera Carvalho is 5-1 on court No. 5. The RiverHawks are above .500 on those three courts.
  5. Head coach Tim McLane is in his first season with the RiverHawks. He was hired Dec. 21, following stops at South Carolina Upstate and Mercer.
  6. Fans are allowed at both matches and asked to socially distance the best they can. Court access is not permitted by spectators.
