TOPEKA, Kan. -- Northeastern State climbed up two spots and finished eighth at the Washburn Invitational Tuesday, with
Carlos Gomez and
Dominic Stevens earning a top-15 spot on the leaderboard.
In their season tournament debut, the RiverHawks shot a 291 score and had a three-round total of 899 (302-306 Monday).
Stevens shot a one-over-par, 72 Tuesday for a 221 score in his debut, while Gomez shot a 74 in the final round to match his score.
Northeastern State was the fifth finishing MIAA program at the designated event, with the team's two best placing individuals tying for eighth among that group.
Brett Wilcoxen rallied Tuesday for a 72, his lowest round in the tournament by four strokes, and was tied for 53nd on a 231 (76-83-72).
Brayden Strickland turned in a 73 for NSU's fourth score and was tied for 67th scoring a 233 (78-82-73).
Gabe Replogle carded a 236 (81-76-79) and was tied for 75th overall.
Arkansas Tech won the tournament with an 863 score by eight shots besting Henderson State. Washburn's Dawson Wills took medalist honors with a 211.
Northeastern State returns to Muskogee to host its 23rd Golf Classic on Sept. 20-21 at the Muskogee Golf Club.
