TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State concluded their home schedule with a 5-2 triumph over Newman Monday afternoon. The win clinches the team a spot in the MIAA Tournament in early May, while improving their home record on the year to a spotless 6-0.

Singles action saw Moldakhmetova and
Tegan Heaton claim two-set decisions on courts one and five, while Vargas finished off her Newman opponent in two sets at court four to clinch the Monday win for the RiverHawks. Meanwhile,
Sandra Mari Marti escaped with a singles victory of her own in tie-breaking fashion on court three.
"Good job from this team just making sure we picked up a win when we had to have it," head coach
Tim McLane said, "We're starting to play a little better here at the end of the season, so hopefully we can keep this momentum going for our last match this weekend, and then the conference tournament."
