RiverHawks fall in ITA Regional Finals

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Northeastern State came up empty in both of the ITA Regional Finals on Sunday afternoon.  Tatjana Stoll fell in the singles final 6-2, 6-3, and in doubles she lost with partner Molly Worden on a late rally by Oklahoma Baptist.

The pair rallied back from a 7-6 loss in the opening set to win 6-4 and forced a decisive pro set tiebreaker where Stroll and Worden would fall 10-8.  Sunday's doubles championship featured the two and three seeds in the bracket with the RiverHawks as the higher ranked pair.

In the singles bracket, Stoll had to take down Central Oklahoma Alli Hodges 6-2, 6-1 to reach the championship that featured the region's top two seeds.  The loss for Stoll in the championship came at the hands of Augustana's Kornelia Staniszewska who was an ITA All-American last season, and was ranked number-13 in the nation.

Up to the loss in the championship, Stoll was undefeated through her first 12 matches.

The elimination in the ITA Regional Final concludes NSU's individual championship segment and they will return to action in the Spring of 2018.
