SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Northeastern State chalked up a victory for NCAA Division II women's tennis on Saturday afternoon beating Missouri State 5-2 on their home court.Â

This is the second straight year that NSU has beaten a NCAA Division I program in regular season play, and the first against a team out of the Missouri Valley Conference.

One year ago, the RiverHawks took down Prairie View A&M, 4-1.

Playing under Division I format, Northeastern State took the doubles point as the duo of
Easton Parker and
Tatjana Stoll won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles, while
Karla Tomaic and
Chantal Nosievici won at No. 3 doubles 6-3.

Leading 1-0 heading into the singles, the Bears tied the match with a 6-0, 6-4 win at the No. 4 slot. Northeastern State's top-three players worked the Bears down and Stoll pulled the RiverHawks ahead in No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win.Â
Molly Worden followed in No. 2 singles, winning 6-4, 6-2.Â
Mayra Jovic was the decisive factor for NSU with a three set 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles.

NSU moves to 2-1 on the year with the victory, while Missouri State goes to 3-2 in regular season play.

The RiverHawks will return to the state of Texas on February 16th and 17th as it will take on Tyler Junior College and another Division 1 in Stephen F. Austin.
