OKLAHOMA CITY – They only got to compete in one tournament during their senior seasons, but NSU golf signees Brayden Strickland and Brett Wilcoxen finished their high school careers at the All-State golf tournament Monday.

Both incoming freshmen played for the East Team and faced the best from the West at the Lincoln Park Golf Course.   

Strickland (Lincoln Christian) won his lone event this spring and was back on the course Tuesday, the OGA State Amateur in Broken Arrow.  The Broken Arrow native hung with Oklahoma signee Jaxon Dowell in the opening round but fell after 19 holes.   Wilcoxen helped lead Owasso to a state 6A Title in 2019, and two runner-up finishes at state.

The All-State event used a format similar to the Ryder Cup, with two-person teams playing 18 holes, split into six holes of best ball, six holes of modified alternate shots, and six holes of scramble.

West would beat the East squad 8.5-6.5.

The Oklahoma Golf Coaches Association hosted this year's event.
